Creating New Products and Services

Introduction

World class new product & service development has become the focus of successful companies. As global competition increases new product introduction and creating strong brands have become the critical success factors. Indian companies hitherto have not given enough attention to new product development. Managing new product development, enhancing innovativeness of new product, inculcating creative product features, reducing the cycle time for development, launching products and minimizing product failures are the critical competencies needed today. The course is specially designed to meet the requirements of two streams namely, creative new product conceptualization and new product introduction. New product failures are extremely risky and recoveries from product failures are becoming increasingly difficult. Making sure that the new products wins and making it first time right requires a higher level creative thinking. Creative new product development also needs robust systems for new product creation. It has been found that the use of new product development templates can ensure that the success rate can be 80% compared to the normal success rate of 20%. This workshop will be a unique opportunity to blend creative thinking and new product development for executives responsible for business development.

Objectives

The objectives of the programme is to create and utilize new product development templates in new product development process, so that thinking and realizing processes are synergized. Still another objective is to ensure that the success rates of new products launched remains high through the use of cross functional interactions.

o Reducing product development time.
o Winning product teams and cross functional teams.

Faculty

The course will be run by Experienced Faculty:
Dr. B. Bowonder, Director Research and Dean, TMTC will deal with new product & service development processes.
Mr. Nitin Pai, Business Head, Tata Elxsi
Dr. M. V. Vidyasagar, Director R&D, Tata Consultancy Services will highlight how an Indian software company created a global product successfully in a short time frame.
Other experienced managers and academics like Dr. Kota Harinarayana, Former Programme Director, Light Combat Aircraft Programme would also share their experience with the participants.
