The 3 day Strategy Module reviewed some of the principles that enable a company to achieve durable advantage and value creation in its business. To this end, participants were exposed to some of the core concepts, analytical techniques and frameworks in strategic management that are useful in developing, evaluating, and implementing value-creating strategies in organizations. The module examined the drivers of the current economic downturn that companies face, and explored actions and strategies that can be used to manage effectively in a difficult business environment.
The 2 day Finance Module covered basic concepts in financial management and introduction to financial statements. The 2 Rules on Good Finance Management & Marginal Costing Principles helped participants to work out Break-even Points for their businesses / projects, set targets for achieving sales, determine pricing policy, take marketing related decisions, understand the impact on profitability of decisions pertaining to credit given to customers, discounts offered etc. The Reading of Funds Flow Statements done through a case study gave an insight into how to evaluate the health of an organisation using a funds flow statement in a group discussion exercise. The participants got an opportunity to test the practical application of all the principles that they had learnt during the course of this programme.
