Chetan
Tolia
Director, TMTC
Chetan Tolia took charge
as the Director of the Tata Management
Training Centre on the 1st August 2008.
Prior to this assignment, he was the Managing
Director of Tata BlueScope Steel Limited,
a 50-50 joint venture between BlueScope
Steel and Tata Steel, that was established
in 2005. Headquartered at Pune, Tata BlueScope
Steel markets Buildings Solutions and
Coated Steel for applications in the construction
sector and operates manufacturing facilities
at Pune, Delhi, Chennai, and Colombo,
and is establishing a new manufacturing
facility at Jamshedpur.
Chetan led the Strategy and Planning
function at Tata Steel from 2001 to 2005.
From 1997 and 2001 he headed the Pune
Business Unit of Tata Ryerson Limited.
He worked in various marketing, projects
and sales assignments at Tata Steel between
1987 and 1997.
He studied at Rishi Valley School, IIT
Madras and IIM Calcutta, before joining
Tata Steel in 1987.

Dr
B Bowonder
Dean of Studies and
Director, Research
Dr B Bowonder is the
Director, Research and Dean of Studies,
TMTC. Prior to this, he was the Dean at
Administrative Staff College and ITC Chair
Professor on Strategic Management of Technology.
International Association of Management
of Technology, USA presented him the Excellence
in Research Award in April 2004 for his
contributions to innovation management.
A PhD in Engineering
from Indian Institute of Science, he was
the Hallsworth Visiting Professor at Manchester
Business School, Manchester in 1999. He
had worked as an Expert on Manufacturing
Technology for the United Nations ESCAP,
Bangkok from 1986 to 1989. He was a Visiting
Professor at Clark University and George
Washington University. He is the Editor
of International Journal of Information
and Technology Management published from
Geneva. He has published about 100 papers
in international journals in themes such
as technology and innovation management.

Pratip Kar
Dean of Finance and Corporate Governance
Mr Pratip Kar holds an MBA degree in Finance from INSEAD, and a banking certificate from the Indian Institute of Bankers, besides being a post graduate in solid state physics.
He had a long career at the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), which he joined when it was set up in April, 1988. As the Executive Director of SEBI, since 1992, Pratip has played a key role in the reform of the Indian securities market, framing its regulatiory policy and framework as well as implementing the regulations in diverse subjects such as - the primary market, disclosure norms, accounting standards, corporate governance, takeovers and substantial acquisition of shares, foreign institutional investement, mutual funds, automation and modernisaton of the stock exchanges, the insider trading regulations, the regulations of the stock exchanges, demutualisation of stock exchanges, regulation of the equity, bond and derivative markets, risk management, dematerialisation of securities, clearing and setlement systems, surveillance and investigations and policy research. In the area of corporate governance he was invloved in the preparation of the reports on corporate governance of the two committees set up by SEBI and in the preparation of Clause 49 of the listing agreement and in its implementation.
Pratip also has a rich experience in international regulations and has been a regular participant at the meetings of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions, the OECD and the World Bank in the areas of securities market and corporate governance.
He has been a member of a number of high powered committees set up by the SEBI, the Reserve Bank of India and Ministry of Finance, Government of India as well as by the IOSCO, t he OECD and the World Bank.
Currently he is also on the Board of Governors of the National Instutute of Securities Market set up by SEBI.
A gold medallist in graduation, Pratip Kar is also a National Merit and National Science Talent scholar. His early banking career included working with a commercial bank, IFCI and IDBI (project finance).

Cyrus
B Irani
Cyrus Irani, Senior Manager, Administration, is a BSc in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics (Hons), CAIIB (Part I) and holds a Masters Degree in Personnel Management. He has been with the TMTC since November 1980, following a stint with Forbes Marshall as Assistant Commercial Manager in the Finished Goods Store, and looks after administration. He has also put in seven years in various departments such as Foreign Exchange, Loan Collection etc with the Bank of India.
His topics of interest are TBEM, Code of Conduct and Ethics and Tata Communication Cascade. He has been programme director for general management and finance programmes.

Dr Mukta Kampllikar
Armed with a BSc from the Holkar Science College and a Masters in Business Economics from DAVV, Indore, Mukta also holds a PhD in Marketing from the DAVV. She is currently pursuing her post doctoral research in marketing under the (Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia) AMDISA Commonwealth fellowship.
She worked with National Institute
of Bank Management, Pune, as faculty and
with DAVV, Indore, prior to joining TMTC.
She has been a guest faculty member at
many B-Schools including IIMK and has
a total teaching/training experience of
five years. At NIBM, she had taken up
consulting assignments for State Bank
Of India and State bank of Indore. She
has 12 publications to her credit and
her areas of interest are Services Marketing
and Marketing Strategy.

Dr
Rajeev Kumar
Rajeev Kumar is a specialist in the discipline
of organizational communication management.
His doctoral work at Tata Institute of
Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, focused
on the use of metaphors in organizational
diagnosis and change management. His qualitative
research compared the downsizing and turnaround
strategies of SAIL and Voltas through
a metaphorical lens. He was awarded the
Fulbright Doctoral Fellowship at Texas
A&M University in 2006-07 for his
research.
His earlier study on ‘Communication
in Downsizing at Tata Steel’ drew
him to publish two teaching case studies
in international publications. For these
text book cases, he was awarded the Gold
Quill Award for ‘Strategic Communication
Excellence’ by the International
Association of Business Communicators,
San Francisco, in 2006.
He holds three degrees at the Masters
level – M.Phil. in Social Sciences
- Organizational Communication (TISS)
; Masters in Communication Studies (University
of Pune) with specialization in Media
Research and Masters in Defense Studies
(University of Madras).
He is also qualified in Creative Writing,
Computer Management, French Language,
Journalism, Video Production and Research
Methodology.
After 28 years of distinguished military
service, Rajeev prematurely exited the
Army as a Colonel in 2006 to avail of
the Fulbright Fellowship. Besides his
infantry combat experience in insurgency
prone environments, he has held varied
command, staff and diplomatic assignments.
He taught at the Infantry School,Mhow,
and later, was faculty at the renowned
Defense Services Staff College, Wellington,
where he taught the Masters in Defense
Studies degree course to middle level
officers of Indian and international armed
forces. While on staff at the Directorate
of Military Training, Army Headquarters,
Delhi, he was involved in macro level
development, monitoring and evaluation
of training policies and programs of the
Indian Army. He had also held the appointment
of Director Media at the Army Headquarters,,
wherein he managed operational publicity
for the Indian Army in print, electronic
and web media.
He was deputed by the Indian government
to the United Nations Iraq-Kuwait Observer
Mission as a military observer after the
first Gulf War in 1991-92 and was awarded
the United Nations Medal for Peace.
He is a member of the International Association
of Business Communicators; International
Communication Association; All India Management
Association; and the United Services Institution.
His consulting and teaching areas include
Strategic Communication Management in
support of corporate restructuring and
change objectives; Crisis Communication;
Conflict Resolution and Negotiation; Organizational
Development; Media Management; Leadership
Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility.
His qualitative research interests are
in the area of Organizational Communication
with focus on Discourse Analysis; Metaphorical
Analysis; and use of Strategic Ambiguity
in Change Processes.

Ramakrishna
Sunder
Ramakrishna Sunder is
currently a Senior Consultant at the Tata
Management Training Centre (TMTC). He
joined TMTC in May 2007.
Sunder holds B.Com (Hons.), degree and
AICWA, PGDM from IIM, Bangalore with a
specialization in Finance, ACS
Sunder brings with him about 25 years
of experience in a number of industries,
national and international such as Crompton
Greaves, National Methanol Company, Saudi
Arabia, Hindustan Motors & Tata Tea.
He has worked in all facets of finance
- Sales Accounting, Corporate Accounting,
Cost Accounting & Project Finance,
Strategy Formulation & Mergers &
Acquisitions.
He joined Tata Tea in 1993 and has worked
in several portfolios - Finance Head of
Exports division, CFO of Watawala Plantations,
Sri Lanka (a subsidiary of Tata Tea),
member of the Tetley Acquisition team,
setting up projects in Bangladesh &
Pakistan. Last assignment was as the Chief
of Business Excellence of Tata Tea.
He has contributed extensively in TBEM
(Tata Business Excellence Model) and has
undertaken several TBEM External assessments
as Lead Assessor and also been a faculty
for various TBEM programmes in the Group.
He has conducted seminars and been a faculty
for programmes on Process Excellence,
Quality & Balanced Scorecard.

Dr
Sangeeta Mathur
Sangeeta Mathur is a Senior Practice Consultant
at the Tata Management Training Centre
(TMTC). Sangeeta holds a Doctorate in
Human Development from Purdue University,
U.S.A. Prior to joining TMTC, Sangeeta
was an assistant professor at ICFAI, Mumbai,
where she taught courses in Organizational
Behavior and Human Resource Management
in the full-time MBA and executive education
programs, as well as conducted management
development programs in team building
and assessment centres for corporates
in Mumbai. Sangeeta also spent several
years in the USA, where she was an Assistant
Professor of Psychology at the University
of Rochester, NY, and led research initiatives
in a number of areas in the school districts
of New York and Wisconsin. Sangeeta’s
areas of specialization include Human
Resource Development, Leadership and Team
Building, Program Evaluation and Measuring
Training Effectiveness. At TMTC, Sangeeta’s
research covers ‘Lessons of Experience’
(LOE), Factors of Executive Success and
Derailment, Leadership Gap Study, and
Bridging Cultural Boundaries. She is collaborating
with the Center for Creative Leadership,
USA. In addition, she also directs HR
Gurukul, a program for HR professionals
offered by TMTC. Sangeeta has several
research papers to her credit.
